【报告摘要】
In this study, we apply a two-period timber and amenity production model to assess the hardwood harvesting choices of various landowners at the stand level by utilizing USDA Forest Service Forest Inventory Analysis (FIA) data for nine southern states. We find that forest industry and institutional timberland owners were more likely to do partial harvests than NIPF landowners and that all landowners were less likely to harvest if there was a high possibility of generating revenues from amenities. Furthermore, final harvests were more price and income elastic than partial harvests, and stand-level timber supply for institutional owners was more responsive to stumpage price change than for industry and NIPF owners. Aggregately, institutional investors responded the most to stumpage prices for partial harvest but not for final harvest among all owners.
【报告人简介】
孙星老师长期致力于自然资源经济问题和相关产品贸易研究，分别在北美自然资源经济专业排名前五位的两所美国高校（Auburn University 和Mississippi State University）完成了系统的研究生教育和博士后科研经历，形成了较为完整、前沿的研究体系，并发表了一系列具有较高理论和实践价值的国际自然资源经济和管理的研究成果。作为上海财经大学城市与区域科学学院/财经研究所的首位常任轨教师，孙星老师在入职后主持和参与了多项课题的研究工作，获得了一系列高质量研究成果。2015年入选上海市“浦江人才”计划；2016年获得上海财经大学第二十二届中振科研基金论文类优秀成果奖；2015年获得上海市哲学社会科学规划课题立项。在自然资源经济领域的国际SCI检索权威期刊发表论文6篇，发表国际会议论文4篇，翻译出版英文专著1部，5次被邀请在国际学术会议上作报告。
